Boost your health with Nutritional Injections!

Nutrient injections are a form of nutritional therapy whereby vitamins and minerals are given through an intramuscular injection. Although oral supplementation is known to impact nutritional health, absorption can be impaired in individuals who have sluggish digestion or digestive disorders, because the oral route requires that the nutrients go through a significant digestive and metabolic process just to be ready for the cells to use.

However, nutrient injection therapy places the nutrient into the muscle, allowing for a more direct route to the circulation. As a result, nutrients are absorbed on a cellular level more quickly, providing them with the needed nutrition to thrive and function optimally. Enhanced cellular absorption of nutrients means healthier cells and healthier cells equates to a more robust and vital body! At Vitalia Natural Medicine, the Naturopathic doctors customize nutrient injections to meet your unique and individual needs. Here is an overview of some of the nutrients that are used for injections and how they benefit the body.

It is not required to be an established patient to receive a shot. Call Vitalia to find out what the doctors would recommend for you or read below for more information.

B12:

Methylcobalamin is the activated, bio-available form of vitamin B12. This vitamin crosses the blood brain barrier for a focused impact on brain function. It also plays a significant role in the formation of red blood cells, nervous system function and acts as methyl group donor in methylation reactions. Methylation is an important process involved in lowering homocysteine levels, improving cardiovascular health and may be important for the prevention of cancer due to the protection of DNA. This particular vitamin requires adequate stomach acid and a healthy gastrointestinal tract for absorption.

Disruption of this complex absorption process can result in a Vitamin B12 deficiency, which can be caused by various digestive/gastrointestinal disorders and medications such as Prilosec, Zantac and other acid blockers, as well as Metformin and chronic aspirin use. It’s also an important supplement for vegetarians. Symptoms or conditions related to B12 deficiency include: dementia, depression, irritability, psychosis, peripheral neuropathy, megaloblastic anemia and increased risk of stroke or heart attacks. Supplementation of B12 is known to improve stamina and energy, assist with mental clarity, elevate the mood, support weight loss and enhance metabolism, improve sleep quality. Therapeutic doses may assist the treatment of fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, headaches and migraines, shingles, neuropathy and neurological disorders.

Caution if also using SSRI antidepressant drugs or antibiotics.

B-Complex

Contains the following B vitamins: B1 (thiamine), B2 (riboflavin), B3 (niacinamide), B5 (dexpanthenol), B6 (pyridoxine). As a whole, research supports the beneficial role that the B vitamins play in healthy nerve cells and proper functioning of the nervous system. They are also largely responsible for the conversion of carbohydrates into usable energy, as well as the metabolism of fats and proteins. B vitamins support and enhance the strength and quality of the skin, hair, liver and assist in maintaining the muscle tone of the gastrointestinal tract.

B1 (thiamine) is a water-soluble vitamin that participates in numerous biochemical functions within the body. It’s primarily utilized in the body as an assistant to the cellular conversion of carbohydrates into energy. Thiamine is also essential for healthy functioning of the muscles, heart and nervous system. Deficiency is common in alcoholics and may be an increased possibility in patients who use diuretic, anticonvulsant or cancer drugs. Deficiency symptoms can include a poor appetite, nausea, depression, constipation, numbness and tingling of extremities and muscle weakness. Therapeutic doses are necessary during times of higher demand like in strenuous physical exertion, feverish conditions or malnourishment, pregnancy and breast-feeding and during adolescent growth. Thiamine may also be helpful in the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease, congestive heart failure and Cancer.

B2 (riboflavin) is a water-soluble vitamin that is central to the production of energy through assisting with the metabolism of carbohydrates, fats and proteins. It also supports antioxidant functions in the body and participates in numerous biochemical reactions that involve the metabolism of several other vitamins including Vitamin B6, niacin, folic acid and iron. Deficiency is common in alcoholics and any patient with inadequate dietary intake, which is seen in anorexic patients. Athletes and the very physically active may also have a higher need for riboflavin, as well as in patients with hypothyroidism or adrenal insufficiency. Deficiency symptoms can include sore throat, redness and swelling of the lips, cracks or sores on the outside of the lips, inflammation and redness of the tongue. Therapeutic doses may reduce and successfully treat headaches, migraines, cataracts and acne rosacea.

B3 (niacin) is a water-soluble vitamin that is involved in 200 known biochemical reactions responsible for producing cellular energy from the metabolism of carbohydrates, fats and proteins. The nervous system, digestive system and skin are most affected by a niacin deficiency. Inadequate intake and some less common health conditions can create poor niacin status. Symptoms of a deficiency could include depression, memory loss, disorientation, headache, fatigue, vomiting, diarrhea, a bright red tongue, rough skin, skin rashes. Therapeutic doses of niacin can benefit patients with insulin dependent diabetes mellitus, high cholesterol, cardiovascular disease, HIV/AIDS and cancer, skin related issues, depression, insomnia and indigestion.

B5 (dexpanthenol) is a critical precursor to a coenzyme involved in several chemical reactions that are necessary for sustaining life. Specifically, it serves a role in creating energy from food, producing essential fatty acids, cholesterol and steroid hormones, production of neurotransmitters and melatonin. Although it’s exceedingly rare, severe cases of malnutrition have been associated with a niacin deficiency. This vitamin is fuel- power for the adrenal glands; therefore, additional requirements are needed during times of acute or chronic stress. Therapeutic doses may also accelerate wound healing and lower cholesterol. This vitamin is contraindicated in patients with hemophilia.

B6 (pyridoxine) is an essential water-soluble vitamin that participates with approximately 100 enzymes in the body, which affect positively affects the function of the nervous system and neurotransmitter production (serotonin, dopamine, norepinephrine, GABA), immune system, red blood cell formation, steroid hormones and the formation of niacin. Women on oral birth control pills and alcoholics are at greater risk for deficiency, in addition to any patient who has inadequate dietary intake due to malnourishment or digestive insufficiency. Symptoms of a B6 deficiency could present as irritability, depression, confusion, inflammation of the tongue, sores or ulcers of the mouth and at the corners of the mouth, as well as seizures. Therapeutic doses of pyridoxine can be helpful in the treatment of: depression, ADHD, fatigue, nausea in pregnancy, PMS symptoms (breast tenderness, cramps, mood changes), lowering homocysteine levels to improve cardiovascular health (with B12 and folic acid), common colds to enhance immune function, Alzheimer’s, kidney stones and carpal tunnel syndrome. B6 may also be important for athletic endurance because of its role in red blood cell formation and cellular energy production. This vitamin is contraindicated in patients undergoing treatment of Parkinson’s disease with the medication Levodopa.

The Fatburner Shot:

A new way to support the body in burning fat, reducing cholesterol and improving liver detoxification.

Are you interested in lowering your cholesterol and burning fat? Would you like more energy? Do you want to boost immune function and aid the liver in its crucial detoxification processes?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, there is a highly effective Nutritional Injection that we offer to provide these benefits. We call this customized formula, the Fatburner shot. It’s a particular combination of lipotropic substances known as methionine, inositol and choline. Lipotropic literally translates into “fat-loving”. Aside from helping the body burn fat for weight loss, while helping to suppress hunger, this formula can also prevent accumulation of fats in the liver, a condition known as fatty liver. Another important benefit is the increase in immune activity of the thymus gland, which helps the body attack, invading viruses and microbes.Fat Burner Shot Carlsbad CA

Methionine is an essential amino acid, which supports normal metabolism and growth. It provides the body with sulfur, which is a key component for making and using a number of antioxidant nutrients. Methionine also functions as a methyl donor, which is crucial to countless biochemical pathways in the body. Research has been shown methyl donors are crucial to methylation, which are chemical reactions that may decrease the aging process and help with healthy brain chemistry. Doctors use methionine with excellent results as part of a treatment for depression, inflammation, liver diseases and estrogen dominance.

Choline, a nutrient similar to the B-Vitamins, works in concert with folate and methionine. It plays a role in the structural integrity of cell membranes, cell-to-cell communication, as well as fat transport and metabolism. On a cellular level, choline helps protect the liver from accumulating fat and can also help to lower cholesterol. Choline serves as a precursor to acetylcholine, which is an important neurotransmitter involved in muscle control and memory. Like methionine, choline participates in methylation reactions, which lower homocysteine levels, thereby decreasing the risk of cardiovascular diseases.

Inositol, is a vitamin-like substance that is also similar to the B-Vitamins. It benefits many conditions including: polycystic ovarian syndrome, diabetic nerve pain, high cholesterol, panic disorder, cancer, depression, Alzheimer’s disease, hair loss and psoriasis. This nutrient is an important source of glucoronic acid, which is essential to liver detoxification.

Our patients love the boost in energy they receive from this shot. They often notice overall improvements in well-being and mood, better ability to tolerate stress and enhanced quality of sleep. Patients also use this shot to assist with weight loss as part of a healthy lifestyle weight loss plan.
